I love this little cardinal from the Hostess set “Warmth and Wonder” in the Holiday catalog.  These ornaments are made from the framelits released last Christmas.  I covered them with washi tape.  You can do so much with that tape.  I love, love, love it!  Our Holiday catalog has both Halloween/Fall and Christmas Washi Tape.  Call me you get yours.

I used the Expressions Thinlits to make this card.  You can find them on page 36 of the Holiday catalog.  This set has three different sentiments.  A little tip on how to use these: Place the cutting plate on the magnetic platform (or tab 2 of the regular platform) and then add your card stock or paper.  Add two (2) pieces of wax paper and then the thinlit.  Cover with the cutting pad and run through the machine.  Easy peasy!  If you do have a problem removing the fine little letters you can use your paper piercer through the little holes in the thinlit.  If you need more information contact me HERE.

Now this stamp set is only available to hostesses that have a total party of at least $150.  Easy to accomplish when you offer supplies from Stampin’Up!©.  You can see the rest of the stamps from this set on page 39 of the Holiday catalog.

Don’t you just love the new Christmas DSP in the Holiday catalog?  This is from the Winter Frost Specialty DSP.  The stamp set is a hostess set from the Holiday catalog called Warmth and Wonder.  You can get this stamp set by hosting a workshop for as little as $150.  I sprinkled Dazzling /Diamonds on the snow in the card but it is hard to see in the photo.

I know it is a little early for Santa but I couldn’t resist playing with this stamp set.  It is soooo cute.  You can find it in the Holiday Catalog page 31.

Okay, I know that’s what you are wondering….   Well, I entered a private Christmas swap for Salt Lake City Convention in July and was searching for Christmas stamps that I could use.  Although, some did get carried over from last year’s Holiday catalog, they are ones that I have used over and over and am not looking forward to using them again so soon.

New Christmas stamps don’t come out until August in the  Holiday mini and I didn’t want to wait for them, even though we (Demos) can get them the 1st of July.  So, after I made this card, I realized this was way too labor intensive and I was not going to do 16 of them for the swap.  I contacted the person, that organized the swap, and dropped out of the Christmas swap.  They usually have a long list of people waiting to get in, if someone drops, so I wasn’t worried about leaving a blank space.

We will go to Mass this evening as we do every year and then come home to an incredible traditional feast that I have been enjoying since I was a child.  A typical Italian Christmas Eve ‘meatless’ dinner with buccala (cod fish cakes), aleche’ (Spaghetti with Anchovies), Luna Pizza (no red sauce) with fresh mozzarella &  Fontina cheeses.

Of course, this has been scaled down from years past, when we also had smelt, snails and Octopus.  In fact, I remember one year when I was little, at my Grandpa’s house, live snails that had gotten loose and were crawling up the cellar wall, which my Grandpa had to gather up for preparation of Christmas Eve dinner in a hurry.  Grandpa & Grandma were both from Italy.  He was from Naples and my Grandma was from a little town outside of Naples called Availlino.  They brought this Italian tradition with them to America.

I always have such fond memories of growing up in an Italian environment, neither could speak a word of English, which was okay then because while we lived with them we spoke both Italian and English.  The shame of it is, when my Mom and Dad both their own home and we moved out, I forgot almost all of my Italian.  The saying “if you don’t use it, you loose it”, is so true.
