Love this card and the stamp set is Zoo Babies which is being carried over in the new catalog. I used Bermuda Bay and Black Stazon on this card in addition to the white organza ribbon, also being carried over. Of course ,the DSP is from Kaleidoscope. If you were in my Wednesday morning hostess club you would have made this card yesterday during our monthly class.

We hope you enjoy this week’s Weekly Deals!

I am a Project Life convert through and through. I first heard about Project Life a couple of years ago by reading Ali Edwards’s blog. I was so intrigued by the whole concept. It seemed so simple to focus on taking photos and recording memories—something that I had been struggling with in my personal albums.
I have loved memory keeping for a long time but I just dabbled in it because it overwhelmed me. I am such a perfectionist, and I would spend hours and hours on my scrapbook pages. I had so many photos and so many memories I wanted to record. There was never enough time to document everything, and I was always so behind.

After having my first daughter in 2009 I got really jazzed about recording our new journey. I started a baby album and tried so hard to stay on top of it, but I was spending too much time on it and getting nowhere. After a little while I pretty much gave up because I was so behind and overwhelmed by the whole thing.
When I came across Project Life I knew I had my answer. I love everything about Project Life. I love all the pockets that can so easily be filled with memories and photos. I love all of the predesigned pocket cards. I love that I can get so many of my photos off my computer and out for my family to look at. I love that I have a place to document the simple everyday moments along with the big ones. I love that I have a place to save all of the little ticket stubs and mementos that I gather. I love adding fun little embellishments to my cards and photos when I have the time and I need a creative outlet. I love that if I just want to get my pages done quickly, I don’t have to fuss around with embellishing things . . . but my pages still look great. Everything about Project Life makes me happy.

If you are new to Project Life, I have put together a few tips I have learned along the way to help get you started recording your life.
Take photos with intention. What are the things that you want to remember? If you made something awesome for dinner . . . take a picture of it. Did you have a fun girls’ night out? Take a picture! Did you go for a walk with a beautiful sunset? Take a picture. We all know to take photos of the big, important events in our lives, but I think the simple moments in our lives are just as meaningful and important to document.

Decide which approach works best for you. Do you want to record your life on a weekly basis, on a monthly basis, or just whenever? There is no right or wrong way to do this. I like working on a monthly basis and adding inserts when I need to, but that might not work for you. Play around and have fun finding out what makes this process of recording your life the easiest and most enjoyable for you.
Jot down the things you want to remember. Carry a notebook in your purse, write ideas in your phone, or write in a journal at the end of the day. When you come across a quote that moves you . . . write it down. When your kid says or does something that you don’t want to forget . . . write it down. If you had a great day . . . write it down. This makes it so much easier when you want to add journaling to your pages.

Save things from your life to include in your album. A tag from your shopping spree, a bag from your favorite boutique that you can cut down to fit into a pocket, happy mail, a birthday card, a ticket stub from a good movie—there are so many fun ways to include bits and pieces from your life.

Set aside time to work on your pages. Make it a priority in your busy life to sit down and get your memories written down and your photos printed off. Doing tasks in chunks is easier than trying to do everything in a big marathon session. Take an hour to go through photos and print them off. Later, sit down for another hour to write down memories onto cards and slip things into page protectors. Take another hour or 30 minutes to play around with embellishing and getting creative if that’s what makes you happy. Again, there is no right or wrong way to do this. Just have fun, and in the end you will have something that you and your family will cherish forever!

This set “So Very Happy” is also in the new catalog. Are you into Owls? I understand there is a whole section on Owls in Pinterest. They are so cute! I had some left over googly eyes and thought they would look so stinkin’ cute on these guys. What do you think? The last time I checked they were on the Clearance Rack. Go HERE to see what’s new on the CR.

This is one of the stamps that will be featured in the new catalog. SU reserved the Theater in North Charleston for demonstrators Monday evening and we all got our new catalogs and some extra goodies like this free stamp set called “Work of ART”.
It was actually a live broadcast from South Beach California, to several theaters across the US & Canada. We all had a blast sitting there for 2 1/2 hours going over the new catalogs and watching all kinds of new items that SU is introducing this year. Y’all are going to love it!

We hope you enjoy this week’s Weekly Deals!

With so many kits available, it’s super-easy to create DIY home décor projects in a matter of minutes! The Burlap and Blooms Simply Created Wreath Kit is one of those great kits, but why limit yourself to just making a wreath? This kit is also great for decorating photo frames, decking out a basket, making a banner, or even creating a fun spring-inspired piece to use in the center of your table . . . or to put on your mantle.
I love making these you can be so creative with them. They are very easy to create. I used the tulips and the bird from Backyard basics found in the big catalog on page 79. In addition, I used the backyard basics framelits to cut out the tulips and the bird. There is a framelit for every stamp in this set so you don’t have to fussy cut anything. So simple!
I used the sentiment from Trust God on page 78 and I covered the tulips with Crystal Effects to make the flowers pop! The stamp set and the framelits you can get as a bundle and save 15%. See details on page 79.

I used different techniques & embellishments on this card especially for Mom. I embossed with Pool Party embossing powder on the sentiment and I used Crystal Effects on the Heart. I used Petite Petals with the matching punch, pearls on the flowers and Retro Fresh Washi Tape. Background is from Retro Fresh DSP. Everything is from the Occasions Catalog.

I love this set, page 28 in the Occasions catalog. I think I have used every stamp in this set so far. It is so stinkin’ cute! I used the baby pearls on the shoes which gives it that extra girly touch along with the pink bow!

On the baby boy card I used Very Vanilla CS and the DSP from Retro Fresh found on page 19 of the occasions catalog.

I always associate the color purple with Easter. I loved using Elegant Eggplant, one of our core colors (that I sometimes over look), for this card. In addition, I used the Wisteria Wonder chevron ribbon, the elegant eggplant button and the doily for embellishments. I used the starburst framelits (page 34 of the Occasions catalog, to center my focal point, which is the flower from Peaceful Petals on page 20. Hope you like it!

Here are the items you’ll be able to purchase on May 1:

I want you to think back to the first time you used the Stamp-a-ma-jig, or the first time you saw that Stampin’ Emboss Powder (US/CAN) melt under the Heat Tool, or the first time you got that hand-stamped card— and the feeling you had when you opened that envelope. Odds are that all of those moments made you say “Ahhh,” and at that point in time you “got it.” I lovingly refer to such experiences as my “ah-ha” moments.
I recently had an “ah-ha” moment, and I wanted to make sure that I shared it with you! I was flipping through the occasions catalog (US/CAN) (as you do on a Monday) and I noticed these nifty little Retro Fresh Designer Journaling Tags.
Now, in theory, they are to be used with your This and That Journal; but one of the things I love about Stampin’ Up! is that I can choose my own adventure and use those little tags however I’d like!
You see, I am a pretty busy guy. I don’t have a ton of time to create hand-stamped items for my wife or kids, so the next best thing is to have something that is practically done for me! I just add the awesome little note and stash it in the kid’s lunch box, my wife’s purse, or in the visor of the car to let them know I care . . . and wall-la!
I took a picture of the back, so you can see how the Stampin’ Write Marker looks on top of the little dots. You can still read it nice and clear!
So grab your matchy-matchy marker and leave what will surely be the best note someone gets all day!
This ah-ha moment has been brought to you by the Retro Fresh Designer Journaling Tags and the number 133526!

This is another double page from our Disney Cruise. The pic on the left is me climbing down the ladder on our Trek Dive. We were about 30 feet under and it was so awesome. The pic on the right was taken with an underwater camera and I am hoping to get better pictures of what we did on board from my daughter Amy.

These are all over the net. This is my take on CIAB. I made it the same way we used to make the 2-4-6-8 box. I watched several videos on this and they are all different. Some with some intricate measurements that I wasn’t having any luck reproducing. I loved how the box came out but I am not in a hurry to make another one right away. I think I want to wait until the new in-colors come out and then it will be like trying something new.

The last time I came in contact with one of these, it was in Hawaai about 40 years ago. We were on an outrigger off shore and we all had to go over the side so they could bail out the water from the boat (some people were not holding up their end of rowing). LOL
I thought I felt ground and that we were possibly on a sand bar, so I put my foot down and stepped on one. We were actually over a coral reef. The pain was incredible and I ended up in the emergency room. Another guy in our group also ended up in there with me because he cut his foot on coral & bleeding (fortunately no sharks were near by), he was on the other side of the boat.
Needless to say, I was very careful handling this beautiful creature. Unlike the black/blueish one I stepped on, this was almost all white and beige.

This card I created from my PP kit. I stained the wood with our Baked Brown Sugar and added one of the gold circles to one of our wooden buttons. These kits are so easy to assemble and I look forward to receiving mine every month with new and different surprises. Really happy with the way it came out. What do you think?

Here I am with my daughter Mo and her husband Chris right after our Snuba Drive in Cozumel. It was so much fun.
I love the way this book is set up with beautiful pages that you don’t even need background papers. I was able to get the Disney paper on-line and filled the entire book with stuff from Disney along with my photos. Of course, you must have noticed that a lot of the embellishments are from page 19 of the Occasions catalog, Retro Fresh Stickers and tags. Everything goes so well together.
I just know that Coastal Cabana color must have come from the Water in Western Carribbean. LOL

We hope you enjoy this week’s Weekly Deals!

This card was made with the Geometrical set found on page 26 in the Occasions catalog along with the Triangle punch. I used the 1″ circle punch for the ice cream. I got the idea for this card from Paper Crafters’ Library. I changed it around a bit by adding the DSP and the sentiment. Hope you like it!

We made these little Easter treats at Stamp camp and hostess club. I used the new Scalloped tag punch and covered the nuggets with In-color designer series paper. The bunny image is from Storybook Friends. Just the right size for classroom friends or co-workers.
To make, cut the card stock at 2″ X 8 1/2″ and score from each end at 3 1/2″. Punch both ends with the Scallop Tag Topper punch and thread ribbon through holes. Decorate front of treat holders with something Easter. Wrap the nuggets with DSP cut at 1″ X 3″. Adhere with glue dots. Easy peasy!

Doesn’t the background on this card look like the old ceiling tiles? I made this with the Silver foil card stock and the Beautiful Barougue Embossing folder. I embossed the image on Shimmery white card stock with White craft ink. I spritzed the image with clear water and dropped coastal cabana ink refill into the image with my aqua painter. When it hits the water it disburses into the most beautiful watercolor technique. I love the effect, how about you?
