Okay this was one of the sets, page 21, I told myself that I was not going to buy.  However, I saw so much of it used in different ways on the internet, I caved and bought it.  Not to mention all the great sentiments.  This is really a very versatile set and as I have said before, I really like stamp images with sentiments in one set.  This covers all of that so how could I NOT want it?  This is also a set that falls under the category of CAS (Clean and Simple).  It should get a lot of mileage.

I have always liked stamp sets that contain fruits and veggies like our Market Fresh set, page 116.  They are so interesting and so much fun to watercolor.  Here I used watercolor paper and aqua painters, page 163.  The inks are Elegant Eggplant and Mossy Meadow.  The DSP is from the Regals Collection, page 144.  Can’t get enough of this paper.  Hope you like it.

If you were a member of my Wednesday morning club you would have made this card along with yesterday’s posted card.  We always do 3 projects.  It is a great group of Ladies that have been meeting the first Wednesday of the month for several years.
On this card, we used the stamp set, From Land to Sea, page 83.  The inks I used are Pacific Point, Real Red, Marina Mist and Crumb cake.  In addition, I used our white gel pen for the water.  Sentiment is from Endless Thanks, page 14.  I used our burlap ribbon and corrugated card stock for embellishments.

I love this new DSP Farmers Market and love combining it with the stamp set By the Tide, page 92.  The sentiment is from the set Big News, page 100.  I used Glorious Grunge and covered the Lobster with Crystal Effects.  The inks  used are cherry cobbler and old olive.  We made this card with my Wednesday Morning Club.

06. August 2015 · Comments Off on July Paper Pumpkin: Thanks a Latte · Categories: Cards

There’s a whole “latte” to love about the July Paper Pumpkin kit. It’s trendy, vibrant, and versatile. Don’t you love the sweet little succulents? Has anyone else noticed that succulents are everywhere right now? They’re everywhere! What’s not to love? They’re beautiful, enduring, and they come in all kinds of shapes and colors.

YouTubeTH_PP_July

We “planted” our succulent in a timeless teacup/latte cup to create a classic, vintage vibe. (Side note: if you’re looking for a fun project, just search “teacup garden” online for some adorable inspiration. Enjoy!) The teacup led to some great accents like the tea bag and steam images. We also love the sentiments that you can keep using again and again in your other stamping projects.

The stamp set includes line art and solid images, and the kit includes two Classic Stampin’ Spots, Early Espresso and Cucumber Crush, so you can customize and layer your stamping. The stickers, background paper, paper clip, bow, and striped envelopes all come together for a totally eclectic look!

As always, we love to share a few other ideas with you, just to show you how much you can do with Paper Pumpkin.

Our artist stuck with the same color scheme and pulled in some of the Basic Gray striped paper from the Neutrals Color Collection (item 138435) to create two new cards. The stamped succulent makes a nice background for the teacup on the larger card.

PP_July_alt-12

And the layer of Cucumber Crush Cardstock adds a little pop of color on the smaller card. Get creative with the paper that comes with the kit to cut out a pot for the plant. And if you’re extra patient, fussy cut around the plant outline.

PP_July_alt-13

While it might be a little tricky to deliver a hot latte to a friend, why not deliver some treats in a foam cup? Stamp a quick tag and add some Calypso Coral Thick Baker’s Twine (138412), Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim (137910), and 2014–2016 In Color Designer Washi Tape (138382) to finish it off.

PP_July_alt-11

Don’t be sad when your cup is empty or when your kit runs out, just order a refill. Enjoy!

The Wilderness Awaits, page 86 is a fabulous set, perfect for masculine cards.  Here I used the mallard in the set and combined it with our Neutrals DSP stack, page 144.  I used Early Espresso for the card base.  The sentiment is from the set Tins of Cards, page 110.  This set is meant to go with Tin of Cards Project Kit, although I like the set even without doing the Kit Project.  I have gotten so much use out of this set.  I really like the font and thought it went really well with this card.  Hope you like it too.

You’re Sublime is a great set, page 45.  The neat thing about this set is that it includes not only the images but the sentiments.    It can be used for just about any occasion.  I love to water color these images but I have also used regular markers too.  Here I used Pumpkin Pie, Island Indigo, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry, Night of Navy and Cherry Cobbler.  I used the white gel pen for the bubbles and white corrugated paper.

I love this set and have used it quite a bit.  You can find it on page 45 of the AC.  I colored the background with Soft Sky and water on Whisper White card stock. Other colors on the card are Daffodil Delight, Basic Gray and Lost Lagoon.  The background paper is from the Stack, Go Wild DSP on page 144.  The sentiment is from the set Perfect Pennants, page 65.
This set has so many images that are interchangeable that you can use it for several occasions.  I love the Scotty dog, he is so stinking’ cute!  Don’t you agree?

This set Vintage Leaves has framelits to go with it.  You can find it on page 88 of the AC.  On this card I used watercolor paper for the leaves.  I found it works the best with this stamp set although you could use regular paper.  I just like the texture of the water color paper.  The colors I used were Old Olive, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight, Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist and Real Red.  The sentiment is from Trust God, page 24.  In addition, I used the corrugated paper for the background.
Best buy is the bundle where you get 15% off regular price if you buy both framelits and the stamp set.

This set is so versatile found on page 83 of the AC. It is becoming one of my favs.  On this card I used Pacific Point, Real Red & Marina Mist inks.  The sentiment is from Endless Thanks, page 14.  The DSP is from the Neutrals DSP stack page 144.  I especially love this new corrugated Paper, page 148, as you probably have guessed by now, I have used it so often.  Got to get more.  Again I used Endless Thanks for the sentiment and the White gel pen for the waves and Gorgeous Grunge for the sand,

As I was fussy cutting this little guy out, I discovered that he is from an old set that Su had a long time ago. How do I remember, me with such an awful memory? Well, I remember having difficulty keeping the eyes attached to the rest of his body. LOL Funny how things come back to you. Well I had to look for it because I think I still have it and sure enough, there it was.  It was called Crab and Company. Love it!
On this card I used the DSP, Pretty Petals and the sentiment is from Endless Thanks.

Can’t get enough of this stinkin’ cute frog.  I used the DSP stack, Pretty Petals found on page 144 of the AC and water colored the frog with Old Olive classic ink and Crumb cake marker.  I used the aqua painter and watercolor paper.  I realized when searching for paper for the background that I have now gone through an entire stack of  6 X 6 paper.  Time to reorder.  It is so cool!  Some of my favorite colors too!

I got the idea for this card from Paper Crafters Library and changed it around a bit!  I used the Washi Tape, Cherry on Top, page 157.  I punched out the scoops of Ice cream from Watermelon Wonder card stock, with the awesome Tree Builder punch, page 167.  The stamp set is from Sprinkles of Life found on back inside cover of the AC.  It is our Ronald McDonald set and the charity gets $3 from every set sold.  To date SU has contributed over $1,000,000 to RHMC.

Death is always a hard thing to talk about, but today I wanted to share an idea that I had while planning my grandmother’s memorial service. My grandma raised me, so this was an especially difficult thing to do.

As I pIanned, I began thinking deeply about all that we lose when someone passes away— their smile, their hugs, the sound of their voice and laughter, their jokes, the way they made us feel, their love, their potato salad (my grandma made the best potato salad EVER)!

Anyway, as I pondered this question, I realized that one of the most precious things we lose is their memories—things that happened in their lives, things that were important to them, people they once knew. I remember my grandma telling me about her childhood when I was little, but sadly I can’t remember most of her stories. What if I had written them down and frozen them in time . . . just like photographs? They would have been something to hold on to after she passed on.

I realized that Project Life gives us a way to do that with our own lives. If we jot down stories or notes as things happen in our lives, they might one day bring comfort to our loved ones after we have left this earth.

All of that led to the idea of having a memory table set up—a place where people could write down memories they had of my grandmother so I could put them in a book. TheLove Story Card Collection (item # 135308) ended up being so perfect. I framed the “I will always remember” card as part of the display and pulled out some journaling cards that would be appropriate for our occasion.

MercedesWeberPhoto2

MercedesWeberPhoto3

As hard as this loss has been for me and my family, I’m starting to look forward to reading the notes that my grandmother’s friends wrote. I’m looking forward to having a book of memories that I can share with my daughters and even with my own grandkids someday (maybe I’ll end up making the best potato salad that they’ve ever had, and I’ll be able to share stories of my grandmother through it).

So what do YOU want to remember? Don’t wait—because memories fade, and surely you don’t want to wait until it’s too late! Take advantage of the time you have and record those special moments as they come. Not only are they precious to you as they happen, but they will be precious to those who love you. It may only take a few minutes to jot them down, but you will turn a moment into a memory that can last for generations.

22. July 2015 · Comments Off on DIY Paper Succulents · Categories: Cards

1

I’m loving the hot trend of decorating with succulents! Everywhere I go, I see adorable little planters, wreaths, boxes, and even teacups filled with them! I purchased a few for my living room and have loved them; however, I’ve decided paper succulents are more my speed due to the “ick” factor . . . bugs.

Recently, I sat down with some of my beloved Stampin’ Up! dies and punches to see what I could come up with using cardstock. I want to enjoy my succulents “bug-free,” please!

2

With just a handful of supplies, I created these simple succulent plants that are very easy to make.

3

I made these teeny tiny little babies with the Pictogram Punches Stamp Set (item # 134264), the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack flower (Item # 133787), Wild Wasabi ink (item # 126959), and Wild Wasabi Cardstock (item # 108641). You’ll only need three punched images for each. These are super-fast and easy!

4

This beautiful, large succulent is easy peasy, too. I simply stamped a flower image from the Beautiful Bunch Stamp Set (item # 134282) on Pear Pizzazz Cardstock (item # 131201) with Pear Pizzazz ink (item # 131180), then punched it out using the Fun Flower Punch (item # 133785). You’ll need six punched shapes for this one.

5

Next up, I decided to get out my Big Shot (item # 113439). The five-point flower from the Flower Fair Framelits Dies (item # 133731) is perfect for this. Before die cutting my So Saffron Cardstock (item # 105118), I stamped it with a splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set (item # 130517) in So Saffron ink (item # 126957). Make sure you die cut five of these.

6

Last, but certainly not least, I created this fun Mint Macaron succulent. Make six of these shapes using the Bouquet Bigz L Die (item # 137367).

I put together this quick reference sheet for you so you can refer to the stamps and punches/dies I’ve used for each plant.

7

I hope you’ll give them a try!

16. July 2015 · Comments Off on Hello Baby: Project Life · Categories: Cards

My name is Laura Thomas and I work in Stampin’ Up!’s Special Events department. Some of you might know me from previous incentive trips, and know that I LOVE to plan a good party!

My younger sister and sister-in-law are both expecting the first babies in our family, so I decided to go all-out on a joint baby shower celebration. I wanted to host the party in my backyard so we could really enjoy the great spring weather and wouldn’t be limited on space. I also planned for the event to be an open house to accommodate guests’ busy schedules. I don’t know about you, but my summer schedule is already filled up!

Since the event was an open house and entire families were invited (not just the girls), I decided to forego the traditional baby shower games. I still wanted the shower to be special and interactive, so my plans naturally included the Stampin’ Up! Project Life product line. I had just received my very own printed catalog the week before I started planning the shower, and I remembered the darling boy and girl Project Life album collections—Hello Baby Boy Card Collection and Hello Baby Girl Card Collection.

These two collections were absolutely perfect for the shower because my sister, Armyn, is having a girl and my sister-in-law, Wendy, is having a boy! My thought was to create an album for each baby and ask guests to share their favorite baby tip or memory with the new moms.

So . . . I ordered everything needed to create two wonderful memory-keeping albums:

Most of my family is still new to the Project Life by Stampin’ Up! product line, so I wanted to design the outside of the albums and a few inner pages to give them good ideas for using the products. Here are a few photos of the creative process here at the home office. I just LOVE crafting here! The creative environment is so fun and my co-workers are always excited to see my creations!

1

2

Once I checked “Project Life by Stampin’ Up! Albums” off my event task list, it was time to move on to my other “to do’s.” I asked my step-sister, Allison, to work the Project Life table, made the refreshments for the next day, charged up the camera so my honey, Matt, could be our photographer, and set up the tables and chairs and the baby clothes lines. We were ready!

Here is a photo of Allison learning how to use the Project Life products. This was her first experience with this type of memory-keeping and she was thrilled! She said that she loves scrapbooking in theory, but she doesn’t have time for it on top of her full-time high school teaching job and her many family and community commitments. “Now this is easy! And so cute!” she said about halfway through the shower. (I think a demonstrator in Idaho Falls just made a new customer!)

3

We laid out the food table and the guests started arriving! It was a very fun shower. I made sure the dads-to-be were there to hang the adorable baby clothes and blankets on the clothesline as Armyn and Wendy opened the gifts. I just love seeing a husband involved in pampering and celebrating their wife! No sports games or “man-time” allowed on this Saturday afternoon!

4

After each round of gift-opening, I asked guests to check in at the Project Life table to share their baby tips and memories. Even the kids liked it!

Here is a photo of my beautiful sister, Armyn, holding up her Project Life book.

Clint and Wendy pose for the blog. Sigh.

This is one of the cards we made at my Wednesday morning club.  I used the color Tip Top Taupe.  The sentiment was stamped with Early Espresso.  The washi tape is from Sweet Li’l Things, page 157.  I wasn’t kidding when I told you that I loved this stamp set and would be using it a lot.  I think this is the 4th card I made with that set this week, guess I’m on a roll.  LOL

The image on this card is from Skating By, page 44 in the new AC.  There are so many really cool images in this set, I can’t wait to use them all.   I cut the balloons out of colored card stock with the dies from Cutie Pie Thinlits, page 171.  I added linen thread and used Pacific Point CS for my base card.  I used our markers to color the image.

This image is from the set, You’re Sublime, page 45 in the new AC.  I used Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, smokey slate and Sahara sand.  I used the Brights DSP stack for the background and whisper white CS.  The ribbon is Pink Pirouette Seam Binding and the 1/4″ cotton Melon Mambo.  I think this card turned out to be very colorful.  I used the clear Itty Bitty Epoxy heart sticker on the red heart.
I got the epoxy heart idea from Dawn Olchefske’s video.  And to be honest, until I watched her video, I didn’t even realize there was a heart in with all the flowers.  LOL
