I love the cat in this stamp set, Festive Fireplace, page 10 in the HC.  I also used the branch from the set Among the branches, page 39.  I used the  Sleigh Ride Edgelits with the houses on this card.  Used the white gel pen to highlight.

We all had to design something from the new Holiday catalog to swap at today’s meeting.  This is my swap.  I chose the Acorn Builder Punch, page 45, with the corrugated paper and I used Crystal Effects on the Top of the acorns.  The sentiment is from the lovely Hostess Set in the HC, called Six Sayings.  I also used the Happy Haunting Washi tape, page 47.

12. September 2015 · Comments Off on 10 Reasons I Love the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit · Categories: Cards

Watercolor-Wishes

  1. It’s so quick and easy to assemble.
  2. There’s something for anyone—male or female.
  3. I love the hand-painted look and the watercolor washes.
  4. The stamp set is super-versatile. Once the kit is made, I can still use the stamps for so many other projects.
  5. The kit comes with detailed instructions; it’s also easy to change it up and make it my own. The photos I’m sharing are alternate designs.
  6. The colors are fantastic—Watermelon Wonder, Pool Party, Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, and Tip Top Taupe.
  7. It has some of my favorite embellishments—washi tape, sequins, and wood elements.
  8. It’s all-inclusive! That’s ink, paper, die cuts, Stampin’ Dimensionals, envelopes, embellishments, and stamps.
  9. The box is cute, which makes it so “giftable.” Add a bow and it’s all ready to share with someone.
  10. I need cards! And sometimes I need them in a hurry. With this kit, it will look like I spent hours handcrafting a beautiful card, when in reality, it was quick to assemble.

Another thought that came to mind while I was playing with this kit was all of the other Stampin’ Up! products that might compliment it. I thought it was fun to bring in some other ink colors. I would suggest Pool Party, Calypso Coral, or even Old Olive.  And what project doesn’t need some Baker’s Twine?!

What do you love most about the Watercolor Wishes Card Kit (item # 140406)?

Hello and welcome to the the Stampin’ Up! Artisan Design Team blog hop! This week it’s all about Sweet Hauntings – what a GREAT stamp set for Halloween!

I’m a lover of Halloween, and I know lots of people aren’t, but I was born on Halloween so I kind of have to love it, and as a kid I had THE BEST birthday parties. We’ve even had a few Halloween parties in our home, but not in a few years. Maybe this card will inspire me to have another party, these sure would make cute invites!

I have a few tips for you if you’d like to recreate this card.
– Stamp bottles on Vellum Cardstock with StazOn Ink. Cut out, and then sponge the edges with Early Espresso Ink.
– Make your window more realistic by placing a piece of Window Sheet behind the black cardstock die cut. To make your window look a little dusty and dirty, sponge with Early Espresso Ink.

It’s all about the grunge on this card, and I did a lot of sponging! Every piece is sponged with a little (or a lot) of Early Espresso Ink to up the spook factor!

09. September 2015 · Comments Off on Natural Expressions · Categories: Cards

Today I’m sharing some ideas on adding a little rustic charm to your projects.

1

Our Expressions Natural Elements (item #138395) feature wood veneer words and come with five of each greeting.

2

To enhance the wooden texture of the Expressions Natural Elements, apply a few strokes of ink across the grain of the wood using a Stampin’ Write Marker. I used Soft Suede and Early Espresso from the Neutrals Stampin’ Write Markers collection (item #131261). (It is fine to leave small sections without ink.)

3

Lightly sand the surface; I used a nail file.

4

Leaves are the second element in my projects. I clear-embossed on Mossy Meadow Cardstock (item #133676) using the Vintage Leaves Photopolymer Stamp Set (item #138802). For a look more rustic look, I shaped the leaves using a Bone Folder (item #102300) by rolling it over the surface and applying pressure to the midrib of the leaf. For best results, do this on a soft surface, like the Stampin’ Pierce Mat (item #126199).

5

6

Bringing together the previous elements, here is the first card. I’ve looped Linen Thread (item #104199) and used it to frame the leaves with the wooden greeting sitting on top.

7

For the second card, I used the larger maple leaf from Vintage Leaves. I clear-embossed the leaf, then cut it out and shaped it using the Bone Folder. This time I stepped up the design by adding a piece of Mossy Meadow 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon (item #138419) and Home for Christmas Enamel Dots (item #140536) in Very Vanilla.

8

For the final item I clear-embossed the maple leaf on a Takeout Box (item #135827) and tied a bow around it with Mossy Meadow 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon (item #138419).

Hello, fellow stampers. I’m going to start by sharing with you that I love Paper Pumpkin. It’s such an amazing program. For just $19.95 USD/$24.95 CAD per month, you’re guaranteed a fun, creative stamping experience.

I was paired up with one of our talented designers, Kelsey W. to create this kit. I’m excited to share these beautiful cards and boxes with all of you—I think they are just stunning. I know others will enjoy receiving these gorgeous cards and gift boxes too.

Below are a few additional ideas to spark your creativity with this kit.

Aug_PaperPumpkin_105_Blog

I added a couple of different elements to dress up one of the boxes. First off, I used one of the gold foil cards to create a striped bellyband. Then, I added an additional layer of pink flower petals to beef up the flower a little more. I love bringing in a little more color, so I added leaves to the flower using Old Olive Cardstock  and the Bouquet Bigz L Die.

Aug_PaperPumpkin_102_Blog

The stamp set that comes with this kit is lovely and elegant. I used the stamps to create this fun notecard. The element pieces create pretty accents and borders. I love it paired with some Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper and 2014–2016  In Color Designer Edit Edit date and timeWashi Tape too.

Aug_PaperPumpkin_101_Blog

I also played around with this kit and created a more stepped up card. I used a piece of one of the card bases as a layer. I added some other gold accents with  Sequin Trim, Metallic Thread, and Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. These are all great add-on items to go with this kit.

Finally, I wanted to leave everyone with a tip about stamping with Whisper White Craft ink. I like to ink up my stamps using a light tapping motion. If you have too much ink on the surface of the stamp, your image won’t stamp as crisp. Less ink will yield a better result.

Hope you all enjoy this kit!  Don’t forget that through September 10, first-time subscribers will receive 50% off their first two months. You don’t want to miss this awesome promotion.

I flipped through the catalog for some inspiration and when I stopped on Haunt Ya Later, I knew I wanted to use it! Look at these little cuties!

I knew I wanted to give them some crazy hair and Bermuda Bay and Cucumber Crush were just right!

I used my Blender Pen and Aquapainter to color in this little witch. I couldn’t decide what to do with her dress, so I grabbed some It’s Wild DSP and stamped it on the striped piece. I cut out just the dress and adhered it down to my original image. That’s called Paper Piecing. I also added some Dazzling Details to her hair, and hat band, although it’s kind of hard to see in the photo.

I didn’t stop there! I had to paint that little pumpkin too! I recommend using Watercolor paper or Shimmer White Cardstock when watercoloring. You can see my pumpkin pilled a bit because I used Whisper White. Oops! The spider web is a new Doily in the catalog. They come 24 to a package. You don’t even have to cut them out!

For my vampire, I did use Watercolor paper. Look at his hair! Isn’t it so much fun! I actually used the Aqupainter first and then went back with my Cucumber Crush Marker and added “highlights!” I added some white ink splatters to the Brick Wall background. The silver cord there is also something new in the catalog. I like it a lot. It’s thicker than the thread we have in the big catalog. It’s very easy to work with.

And for the inside of this card, I added the black cat! With a bow on her tail!!

On page 17 in the HC you will find this beautiful set of trees. Perfect Pines Framelits dies were used to cut out the trees.  This is a bundle also so if you want both you save 15%.
In addition there are also lovely sentiments and embellishments that you can decorate your trees with.  I left these plain in the background but I love the tree with the sentiment in front.  You will again be surprised to find that these little bambi’s were not stamped but cut out from the DSP, Home for Christmas, page 9.  I used whisper white card stock to stamp the trees and place the images on and the back ground DSP is also from the same DSP set.  I used Dazzling Diamonds to highlight the snow in front.  Aren’t these little guys so stinkin’ cute?

I really love using this set.  This was one of those sets that I said I didn’t need until I saw all kinds of beautiful cards all over the internet that were made with this set, page 21 AC.  Even in the catalog it is shown with 5 different samples.  Very versatile and you will use this set a lot.  What I love about it, is the sentiments, so many to use from one set.  You can’t go wrong with this set.  It’s what I call a Clean and Simple stamp set.

Again this bundle can be found on page 11 of the HC.  I used the Hearth & Home Thinlits dies to cut out the window.   The spider and web is from Happy Scenes and the background paper is from Go Wild DSP paper Stack, page 144 of the AC.  I blended Rich Razzleberry and Elegant Eggplant for outside of the window and used Daffodil Delight for the Moon.

Yes, I know, it is not even Halloween yet.  But you know I just have to start showing you sneak peeks from the HC, right?   You are going to be surprised to know that the chimney I made with the embossing folder, Brick Wall, page 174 in the AC.  I used our dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper, page 149 AC, for the snow.  However, the BIG surprise is that the Cute little Santa is not stamped but is cut out (fussy cut) from our gorgeous DSP, Home for Christmas, page 9 of the HC.  By now you have probably seen all the really cute cards made with this DSP, by cutting out some of the images.  Our SU artists that designed this paper really out did themselves.  Every page is just beautiful.  If you have not rec’d your Holiday catalog by the end of the month, just let me know.  Background DSP is from Pretty Petals Paper Stack, page 144.

The embossing folder, Woodland Textured Impressions, page 39, really sets off this card.  The set that is paired with it, Among the Branches can be found on same page.  It is pretty versatile considering you can use it for Fall /Thanksgiving, and Christmas also.  I have seen some pretty cool samples on the internet where Demonstrators have used all different colors as the background for the trees.  You will be seeing this quite a bit in my postings through out the seasons.  The second card is also from the same bundle, I just switched it up a bit.

I can honestly say that this set, Howl-0-ween Treat, page 49, is one of my favorite sets in the entire Holiday catalog.  What I love about it are the matching framelits dies that you can buy with it.  Of course it can be bundled so you can save 15% on both items.  How much fun making cards with these and we do not have to fussy cut.  THe embossing folder is to die for and you can find that on page 39.  That is also part of a bundle too where you can save on both the stamp set that is paired with it.  You will see that set in tomorrows post.  Everything in this new catalog is sooooo awesome, I had trouble trying to select which ones I had to have.  Hard decision!

1

The birdcage itself was created using Whisper White Cardstock (item # 100730) and a Candy Dot Brad Base (item # 132293)! In the spirit of upcycling, the base of the cage was created using scrap packaging paper from the Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper packages. You will need a 1/16″ Circle Handheld Punch (item # 134363) and the Circles Collection Framelits Dies (item # 130911).

2

3

4

In step 12 you will see that I upcycled an empty Stampin’ Up! button container for filler inside the birdcage base. This was perfect! The only downside was that it was a bit fussy to add my flowers through the birdcage bars. Fussy . . . but not impossible. Just take it one flower and one leaf at a time. Be gentle so you do not bend or crease the bars.

I got comfy in front of the TV and created my paper flowers watching Netflix (a match made in heaven). The Fun Flower Punch (item # 133785) and the Flower Fair Framelits Dies (item # 133731) made creating the flowers effortless. You will need to punch or cut out multiple flowers in the same color for each flower shape you want to create. Use a Bone Folder (item # 102300) to curl the flower petals and soften the fibers of the cardstock. You can also crumple the petals for more texture (as I have done here).

5

I wanted to hang something down the center of the birdcage. The Vintage Faceted Buttons (item # 127555) threaded with Silver Metallic Thread (item # 138402) were just perfect (if I do say so myself).

6

To finish it all off, I added a bow using Pink Pirouette 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon (item # 134574) and a birthday gift tag using the Flower Patch Stamp Set (item # 134207). This stamp set coordinates with the Flower Fair Framelits Dies that I used above to create the flowers. You simply cannot have one without the other! Trust me, you’ll need them both!

7

8

I’m excited to give this gift away to a friend. Real flowers wilt, but these flowers can be enjoyed forever!

Thank you for reading. It is a huge honor (and super-exciting) to share on the Stampin’ Up! blog!! Have a creative day!

I used Mint Macaron card stock for the box.  The window was cut out with dies included with the pillow box die.   You will soon be receiving your new HC, and when you do, you can find this die on page 41.  It has lots of really cool dies that can be used with the pillow die, as well as on cards, scrapbooks, and gift items, etc.

I love this set because it has sentiments you don’t always see.  This set an be found on page 74 of the AC.  It is considered two-step stamping, and because it is photopolymer, you can hit the placement smack on the nose.  This is a set that I consider Clean and Simple (CAS).  I did use the butterfly from Butterfly Basics, page 124,  and cut it out with our Bitty butterfly punch, page 166.

This is an invitation for a lobster party.  Yum, doesn’t that look good enough to eat? The set is from By the Tide, page 82 and I used Crystal Effects on the Lobster.  The DSP is from Farmers Market DSP.   The sentiment is from a Paper Pumpkin set.
One of the things I like so much about our new and revised Paper Pumpkin Kits are the stamp sets that are included with them.  They are absolutely fantastic and I have kept most  of them for special occasions like this.
A little hint for storing your stamp sets, after you have made the beautiful projects, in the kits, are to store them in a Wide Stamp Case, page 176.  I have about 12 sets in one of the Full cases and I think it will hold at least 2 or more sets.  The new photopolymer stamps that now come with the kits take up less room and you can really fit a lot into one case.  There is even a paper sleeve, that you can print out and label your case “Paper Pumpkin Stamp Collection” just like the labels on our regular sets.

This image is from the set The Wilderness Awaits, page 86.  You know how I am always saying there are no mistakes in stamping?  Well when I put this card together, I left a halo on the top of the sentiment and it looked messy.  So I stamped it on another scrap piece of Very Vanilla and cut it out with the Decorative Label punch, page166.  Now seriously, if I didn’t tell you, would you have guessed I screwed up?  That’s what I love about stamping, you can always fix a screw up.  I used a monochromatic style on this card and I think it makes a great card for a special man.
