IN this card, I sponged soft suede ink and distressed the card stock to appear vintage style.  The Stamp set, Night in Bethlehem was from the HC, page 26.  I used clear embossing powder on the very vanilla card stock creating a emboss resist affect.  I used the Metallic sequin Assortment, pg 197 AC.  In addition, I used the background stamp, Sheet music, page 165 in the AC.

I love our new embossing paste and I wanted to show you another card used with it.  This set is also from the Holiday catalog, promise this is the last one for a while. It is called “Night in Bethlehem.”  This is a dynamic set and cannot wait to use it with different foils.  I also used the stitched shaped framelits for the sentiment.

This set you can bundle and save 10% on the cost.  It is called Santa’s Sleigh and Thinlits Dies, page 24 of the HC.  There are actually 15 stamps and 12 different thinlits in this bundle so it is certainly worth the money.  You will enjoy using this for your holiday cards.  I also used the Washi tape Warmth and Cheer, page 13.  The sentiment if from Oh, What Fun, page 31 of the AC.

This card we made at our Wednesday morning club.  The set, Christmas Magic, is the perfect set to add to your collection.  It has beautiful images and wonderful sentiments.  If you have been keeping track, I have used it several times in my blog.  I think I will certainly get my money’s worth on this one.

I did the sky on Whisper White card stock, in Dapper Denin, and splattered white craft ink refill, page 180 of the AC, mixed with a little water using a paint brush.  The sentiment is a banner cut out and held with our Bow Paper Clip embellishments found on page 177 in the AC.  I used Marina Mist to highlight the snow drifts, and used a blender pen, to color the images with our classic inks.

I painted this tree, from Santa’s Sleigh, on water color paper and then cut it out with the matching Thinlits dies, page 24 of the HC.  Tha Santa was stamped from the set Cookie Cutter Christmas, also on water color paper, and cut out with the matching punch, page 6 of the HC.

I used the negative piece of the cut out tree as a stencil, and sponged the tree on the card front.  I then, popped up with dimensionals, the cut tree and laid it on top of the stenciled image.  The sentiment is from the set Reason for the season, page 34 of the AC.   I thought it needed a little something so I added the Brights Sequins, page 177 in the AC.  It sounds like a lot of work but it was pretty simple.  What do you think?

Don’t you just love this DSP, Candy Cane Lane, page 5 of the HC?  I love the colors red, white and brown together.  It is so country.  You can do so much with this DSP, like cutting the images out and using them separately on a card or a gingerbread house.  The trees are from a set that we carried over from last year, Peaceful Pines, page 28 of the AC with the matching dies, Perfect Pines, page 192, same catalog.  I white embossed the trees on Early Espresso Card Stock.  Fun card.

Well maybe not, but this is sure an old fashion train decorated for the Holidays.  The stamp set used on this card is from the Holiday catalog.    Christmas Wishes on page 22 is so versatile.  What’s great about this set is all the lovely images and great sentiments.  I will get a lot of different cards out of this set.

I stamped the train with black archival ink on watercolor paper. I made a palette with our inks and used the aqua painter to color it.  Although, the North Pole sign is not on watercolor paper, I did the same here trying not to wet the whisper white paper very much.

I cut out the window with Lots of Labels Framelits, page 193 of the AC and added our foam adhesive strips, page 182, to pop up the window.  In addition, I used Soft Sky on the front of the card.

Okay this is my kinda stamp set.  I love it because it is so Vintage looking with the old time Santa Claus.  The images in this set are wonderful and so versatile.  Many ideas you can get from using this set.

Here I used Archival Black ink for the background and the Santa.  I then tinted it with our inks and blender pens.  What I like about the blender pens is that you do not have to put the ink on full strength, like you do with a marker.  Just start a little palette in the top of the ink pad container and use that.  You can make it as dark or light as you wish, which is what I did with this card.

Another sneak peek.  This is the card I created for the Cute & Cuddly challenge for SUO.  I used the stamp sets Merry Mice and Father Christmas.  I just love using our inks to watercolor.  Here I used watercolor paper and stamped with our archival black ink.  The inks I used are Perfect Plum, Watermelon Wonder, Soft Suede, Pink Pirouette and Delightful Dijon.  Both of these sets are in the new Holiday catalog and will be available for sale on the 1st of September.  In addition, I used the gorgeous perfect plum Halloween Night Enamel Dots.  I am so happy with this new catalog.  It is, IMO, the best ever Holiday catty we have ever come out with.

For the background, I used, This is Christmas Specialty DSP and the Irresistibly Floral Specialty DSP, both found on page 172 in the annual catalog.

We rec’d this card in the mail and it was from our Daughter Mo.  We were so blown away by it I thought I would use it for my Christmas Post today.  I think she did an incredible job with the coloring and I love the sky and the black glimmer paper really sets it off.  This set you can still get, maybe not for this year but you can always save it for next year.  All Ye Faithful on page 20 in the HC.
From our family to yours, hope y’all have a blessed Christmas!

I was short this year and had to make up some more cards at the last minute and this was one of them.  Usually, I have so many samples from my card making classes and clubs that I don’t need to.  I generally send them to people out of town but I noticed that a lot of people no longer send Christmas cards.
I get a lot of email type cards.  I am sure you know the kind.  Where you click on it and it brings you to a singing card or a beautiful Christmas card online.  That is not good for business.LOL  I will keep making and sending cards for as long as I can.  I think it is extra special for someone to go to the mail box and find a hand written card.  It takes a lot more effort to create a card and means so much more to the recipient, don’t you agree?

02. November 2015 · Comments Off on White Birch Trees · Categories: Cards · Tags: , , , ,

The thing I loved about upstate NY were the beautiful white Birch trees.  I remember one day years ago when I was golfing, that a huge branch fell off one of the trees on the golf course and I remember dragging it off and bringing it home.  My husband sawed it into four pieces and I still have them.  I decorate the fireplace with them every year when we are not using it.  They are still beautiful, and I am so thankful that no one has tried to use them for fire wood.  I would, of course, be crushed if that ever happened and needless to say I would have to hurt the person who did that. LOL

When I first saw this embossing folder, Woodland Textured, page 30 AC, that is what inspired me to design this card with white birch trees.  Although, I suppose you could use it for any type trees just by changing the color.  I brayered the background of the folder with Pacific Point ink which left the trees white.  I used the set Among the Branches, same page, for the sentiment.  That can also be bundled for a 15% off deal.  The little Silver foil ornaments were cut out with the Perfect Pines Framelits, page 16.
